Guidelines
for Candidates: 1.
If you are interested in having your profile sent to any of our congregations,
please ask the Office for Parish Life and Leadership to send your
profile to Pennsylvania Southeast Conference. If you are from
another denomination, we prefer that you ask your judicatory to send
your resume/papers directly to us. However, if this is not possible,
you may send them yourself.
We share only official United Church of Christ Ministerial Profiles
with our congregationsor those of our covenant denominations.
Official Ministerial Profiles include:
»
Pastors
holding Full Standing in the United Church of Christ
»
Seminarians
In-Care who are authorized for ordination
»
Disciples
of Christ ministers granted Ordained Minister Partner Standing
»
Pastors
already ordained by another denomination who have received Privilege
of Call expressing desire to change denominational affiliation
or seek dual standing.
These designations
are authorized by a UCC Association Church and Ministry Committee. 2. Again, please note: Our congregations
will accept only profiles and equivalent resumes through our Conference
Offices. So do not send them to the congregations you might be interested
in - they will only be sent to us without consideration. 3. If you engage in conversations and
negotiations with a PSEC congregation, we urge you to keep in touch
with the Associate Conference Minister. 4. We ask that you please notify us if
you accept a call elsewhere so that your profile can be withdrawn
from needless circulation.
Requirements for Non-UCC Candidates We ask all non-UCC persons searching for a position in
our Conference for several things before we can circulate their profile/papers/resumes: 1.To gain either Dual Standing (where
you keep your ministerial standing in your present denomination along
with gaining UCC standing) or Privilege of Call (keeping your standing
in your present denomination but approved to serve a UCC congregation
in a particular area). This is done by petitioning and interviewing
with the Association Committee on Ministry in the area in which you
now live. Contact information is available through Rev. Nancy Gottshall. 2.Once you have gained either Dual Standing
or Privilege of Call, you must then fill out a UCC Profile. This is
done through our national UCC website. Click
here to go to Profile webpage.
Description of Placement Procedures: 1. When we receive candidate profiles,
we will:
»
Send
you an email to confirm that you are in active search and are
interested in the churches of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference.
»
Also
contact your authorizing judicatory (Association/Conference)
to confirm your authorization for ministry.
2.
If you are actively seeking and interested in churches in our Conference,
your profile will be sent to our churches in search in two ways:
»
You
request that it be sent to specific churches, or
»
The
Conference Profile Placement Committee selects it to be sent
to various churches within the Conference because your needs,
wants, and gifts appear to be a match for one or several of
our churches in search.
In either case,
you will receive a list of those churches to whom we have sent your
profile. 3. If, upon reading your profile, a local
church Search Committee feels that you might be a possible match and
wishes to be in conversation with you, they will contact you directly
and send you their complete church profile.
